Counterfeit Currency: Do You Know What to Look For?

The RCMP in Spruce Grove were alerted by businesses that counterfeit currency was being circulated. The currency was missing several security features and was printed on regular paper instead of the new polymer material. In addition, one legitimate bill  had been altered. RCMP advise businesses to be cautious when accepting any denominations of cash and know the security features that differentiate authentic currency. The Bank of Canada provides businesses with training materials on security features for all Canadian bank notes and what to do if you suspect a note is counterfeit.
