Saskatchewan Court of Appeal Rules Federal Carbon Tax is Constitutional
The Saskatchewan Court of Appeal has ruled in favour of the federal government in its decision on the carbon tax challenge. The decision which found the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act is not unconstitutional was split 3-2. Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe, who has said a carbon tax hurts his province economically, has stated that the decision will be appealed to the Supreme Court of Canada.
Alberta Premier Jason Kenney released a statement indicating that the Government of Alberta will be joining Saskatchewan in their appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada.
