May is Sexual Violence Awareness Month
Culture, Multiculturalism and Status of Women Minister Leela Aheer issued a statement about Sexual Violence Awareness Month urging Albertans to work together to create safe and inclusive communities while supporting survivors and ending the stigma surrounding such traumatic events. The Minister emphasized that the responsibility to help victims is a collective one. The Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce passed a policy on the Creation of an Integrated Southeast Child Advocacy Centre so that survivors and their families can be supported in the most integrated, effective and efficient way possible. We believe that a community led, collaborative approach for services delivery is the best way to achieve early detection, prevention and treatment while avoiding duplication of services and reducing delivery costs. Our chamber supports survivors this month and we will continue to advocate on their behalf.
