Provincial Government Back in Session
The provincial government laid out their plans for the fall sitting of the legislature. Government is expected to table 14 to 17 bills this session, subject to the approval of the legislature. The first piece of legislation that has been brought forward is Bill 14 - the Alberta Indigenous Opportunities Corporation Act with the goal of increasing access to capital for Indigenous communities and provide them with support to get involved in natural resource development projects.
Other pieces of legislation slated to be brought forward include an introduction of Clare's Law and establishing the Technology, Innovation and Emissions Reduction program. In addition, the government will be tabling its first budget on October 24th. The chamber network will be following the legislative agenda closely and providing our recommendations to government in the coming months.
