In alignment with the ten-year Financially Fit initiative, the City of Medicine Hat will no longer provide free services for sewer back up, CCTV camera inspection, and root foaming calls.

The City has provided these services at no charge for several years, but with increasing economic pressures, changes are necessary to focus on high priority, regulatory work related to water and sewer infrastructure.

The City does not expect the change to have a broad impact across the community.

In addition to the new fee structure, the City is also discontinuing some of their current noncore services. Requests for routine maintenance, or to inspect odour complaints inside of a residence will no longer be provided by the City. Residents will be expected to contact a plumbing service.

The changes will take effect on April 1, 2020.
