Stronger Together: Navigating COVID-19
This is no April Fool’s joke. These are challenging times and governments at every level are working to protect Canadians from the COVID–19 virus and as your Chamber of Commerce, we have committed to assisting our business community in any way we can.
This pandemic has wide-sweeping effects on our business community, with new policy and procedural changes every day. We recognize that through all of this, there is also a lot of information to navigate. As such, after the global pandemic was declared, the Chamber team started compiling and organizing the most up-to-date information from all levels of government in a single COVID-19 information page published on the Chamber’s website, in addition to utilizing our social media.
We’ve uploaded resources and FAQs; we’ve produced a YouTube video to encourage people to flatten the curve and have created a playlist of daily updates on our YouTube channel, in addition to our website.
A Support Local page will be launched this week and we’re encouraging businesses to share your stories with us so that we can promote your efforts. A pandemic training calendar is also available and we’re profiling various webinars, on demand videos and resources to our daily updates as well.
The YXH Business Support Facebook Group is hosting LIVE sessions every morning at 7:30 am with subject matter experts, with the Chamber session held Fridays at 7:30 am to provide updates on the week’s activities.
We also have our weekly e-newsletter, which is now focused on COVID-19 and some commonly asked questions, along with additional information and supports.
We continue to respond to requests through social media, emails and phone calls to support our businesses and we are answering inquiries as they come in.
We are fortunate to have industry experts on our Board of Directors and within our membership that we can call on if we don’t have the answers. Our broader network of chambers through the Alberta Chambers of Commerce and Canadian Chamber of Commerce are also part of our support and response team. They work directly with Government each day and provide us the opportunity to dial in to technical briefings with various departments to get information on the programs being announced.
We want to stress, businesses do not need to be members to be assisted at this time. We want to be able to provide support to you through our information and resources. Please make sure to connect with us and stay up to date.
