Buy Alberta. Buy Local

A new ‘Buy Local’ campaign launched in support for the province’s farmers, ranchers, and food processors. This initiative encourages Albertans to choose local products—from fresh produce to craft beer and beef—to help sustain our agriculture industry and local economy. With over 150 farmers' markets open this summer and the growing reach of the ‘Made in Alberta’ label, it's easier to show your Alberta pride by supporting homegrown goods.

RCMP Non-Emergency Complaint Line at 310-RCMP

RCMP have launched a new non-emergency complaint line that can be reached by dialing 310-RCMP without incurring long-distance charges or requiring an area code. The line aims to reduce confusion about which detachment to call for non-emergencies and allows frontline efforts to focus on high-priority calls.

Three New Support Measures for Canadian Businesses Impacted by U.S. Tariffs

On April 15, the Government of Canada announced new support measures for Canadian businesses impacted by tariffs. Among them is a new performance-based remission framework for automakers that may be affected by Canada’s counter tariffs. This new measure is designed to provide relief from counter tariffs on U.S. autos while also incentivizing continued production and investment in Canada.

The government is also introducing a temporary six-month relief period for goods imported from the U.S. that are used in Canadian manufacturing, processing, and food and beverage packaging, and for those used to support health and national security objectives.

Finally, the new Large Enterprise Tariff Loan Facility (LETL), first announced by the Prime Minister in March, is now accepting applications. By providing access to liquidity, this program will support eligible large businesses that are facing difficulties in accessing traditional sources of market financing, including those that contribute to Canada’s food, energy, economic and national security.

CUSMA Compliance: New Resources for Canadian Exporters

The Government of Canada has launched a CUSMA Compliance Website and Hotline (1‑833‑760‑1167) to help Canadian exporters access duty-free U.S. markets under CUSMA. Learn more | What You Need to Know:

  • Canadian goods must meet CUSMA rules of origin for duty-free access to the U.S.
  • Over 98% of tariff lines and 99.9% of trade are eligible for this benefit.
  • Exporters must certify compliance and provide documentation to U.S. importers.

How to Ensure Compliance:

  1. Verify your product's HS code.
  2. Confirm your product meets rules of origin.
  3. Complete a certification of origin.
  4. Provide the certification to U.S. importers.

How to Create an Energy Emergency: Debunking Crude Oil Tariff Myths

On his first day in office, President Trump signed executive orders declaring a national energy emergency and promising U.S. energy abundance. But if the U.S. administration is truly worried about an energy emergency, it shouldn’t be taxing its majority supplier of crude oil. In a new analysis, the Candian Chamber Business Data Lab debunks three common myths about crude oil tariffs and explains why replacing Canadian oil with U.S. or foreign oil sources isn’t a simple, secure or cheap option. Indigenous SME: Storytelling through Craft

Brenda Mercer with White Horse Rider Co, a Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce member and Director, was interviewed and highlighted in The Canadian Indigenous SME Issue No.15 on the Good Relations Tourism Mentorship Program and using art to tell her story.

Art as resistance. Storytelling as empowerment. Culture as legacy. What happens when tradition meets entrepreneurship and mentorship?

A remarkable journey of healing, creativity, and community upliftment. Through the Good Relations Mentorship Program, one Indigenous artist is using her voice--and her craft--to spark connection, purpose, and pride. From handmade drums to personal bios included in every order, this is storytelling through craft that resonates.
